Nabi Samwil

Nabi Samuel is located on the northwestern extremety of Jerusalem and just southwest of Ramallah. A monastery was built here in Byzantine times which preserved a tradition that Samuel once lived on this spot.

The Crusaders called the upon which they would build their church Mont de Joie, meaning ’Mountain of Joy,’ for it was from this very spot the Crusaders caught their first glimpse of the Temple Mount from afar.

The Tomb of the Prophet Samuel
