About Me:

Gil Zohar moved to Israel from Toronto, Canada in 1982. A seasoned tour guide, journalist and contributor to the Fodor's Guide to Israel (7th edition) 2009, he has extensive knowledge of Israel and its archaeological, religious and historical sites. He has written thousands of articles for scores of newspapers and magazines including The Jerusalem Post, The Jerusalem Report, Tel Aviv University Review and Segula.

A graduate of the George Washington University in Washington, D.C. where he worked at the Smithsonian Institution’s National Museum of Natural History, he’s able to dust off the most ancient of sites — from the prehistoric caves of Mount Carmel to the dramatic ruins of Herodion — and bring them vividly to life. With his infectious enthusiasm, rich insights, overwhelming knowledge and ability to know what tourists from English-speaking countries are most interested in, Gil’s popular study tours show visitors the complex tapestry of historic and contemporary Israel.

Gil likes to say he tours by design. God’s design.
